Top Nail Polish Trends of 2020
Nail polish and color trends change with every passing season and year. Nail trends naturally follow and coordinate with fashion trends and colors of each season. The year 2020 has seen many new and exciting new developments in how we color nails. So if you want to step out of your comfort zone of different types of nail polish trends you can experiment with these new trends.
Yellow is the Pastel of the Year
2020 has seen the other pastels overtaken by the creamy sunny shade of yellow. This cheerful color lets you bring out the sunny side of your personality. It is still a pastel but cheekily and cheerily so. If bright yellow does not make you cheer, you can choose from the softer more cream shades that do not scream for attention.
Less is More
When you think almost natural or nude nails it is usually the French manicure that comes to mind. This year has seen a light coat of neutral shades worn over the entire nail. If you still want a little bling, choose the same shades with a little shimmer.
Over the Top
Conversely, the outrageously different type of nail polish trend is also in fashion. The stick-on nail embellishments this season have gone bigger and crazier instead of smaller. If bejeweled nails are your thing you will be spoilt for choice with all the new collections that are being created to satisfy every kind of whim.
Browns and Peach
While we have associating browns with the fall season for a while, they are now back in a whole range of rich colors to wear year-round. The earthy shades are making their presence felt among the traditional pastels that are usually favored. So choose from earthy palettes if you feel that the pastels are not for you. If you cannot bring your self to go all brown, peach shades are also quite on-trend.
Bring Out the Animal in You
We thought we have seen it all with animal print clothing and scarves but not the trend is to have animal print nails. And not just any old true to life animal print, the only thing limiting the use of colors is your imagination.
Shimmer
Glitter is always in demand in nail polish and as an embellishment but this year has seen many new colors with shimmer. A subtle shine is an ideal base on which to decorate with nail jewelry. Some shades use the shimmer with cool colors to give a frosted finish. The most exciting versions of shimmer have iridescent multicolors that look like a holograph. They can be used as the base color or as a light topcoat on another color.
Metallic
The new metallic colors with the iridescent shine produce nails that have a metallic finish. This looks beautiful when used on the entire nail or as a part of creative design.
Creative Pairing
Nail design and patterns are no longer within the same type of finish. Creative designs achieved by mixing matte, shimmer and glitter nail polish all look good and are open to the interpretation of the nail artist.
